Have you heard of Cognitive Dissonance? This is the discomfort we feel when presented with conflicting belief systems and values. We as humans dislike this feeling of discomfort when experiencing cognitive dissonance so we do anything to avoid or stop this feeling.
When you commit to personal development you’ll be exposing yourself to new more life enhancing beliefs however some of these beliefs may conflict with the subconscious beliefs you hold about yourself and life in general.
What we typically see when people embark on the personal growth journey is a desire to resolve the discomfort from conflicting beliefs and sometimes this means we’ll stop the personal growth in order to remain in our comfort zone.
